PUTRAJAYA, March 19- Some 5.369 million of the 6.114 million people eligible for the 1Malaysia People’s Aid (BR1M) 2.0 have cashed their vouchers as of yesterday, Second Finance Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah said today.
He said 1.376 million of the individuals were single unmarried people and 3.993 million were heads of households.
“Selangor has the most number of people who had cashed their vouchers, at 837,904, followed Johor, 729,124, and Sarawak, 623,673,” he told reporters after the monthly assembly of the Finance Ministry, here. BRIM 2.0 provides RM500 to households with a total monthly income of less than RM3,000 and RM250 to single unmarried individuals with a monthly income of less than RM2,000.
At the assembly, the Finance Ministry donated RM60,000 to the Tabung Wira Lahad Datu Media Prima for the policemen and soldiers killed by Sulu terrorists in Sabah.
Meanwhile, Treasury secretary-general Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Irwan Serigar Abdullah said a Wataniah squad would be established soon to boost patriotism among the staff of the ministry.
“Applications to join the squad have just opened and 30 applications have been received,” he said.
