New York  – Rapper Kanye West was taken to hospital on Monday, according to news reports, after days of strange antics that had fans and analysts questioning his mental health.

Citing authorities, NBC News reported West was under observation at a Los Angeles hospital after police responded to a “medical welfare” call on Monday afternoon.

Earlier on Monday, tour promoter Live Nation announced the cancellation of the remaining 21 dates of West’s Saint Pablo tour of the US and Canada.

Live Nation said on Twitter that it would refund tickets for the remaining dates of the 2016 tour, which had been set to continue in Orlando, Philadelphia, Washington, Boston, New York and Toronto, Canada.

Days of odd behaviour by the rap star started Thursday in San Jose, California, where West interrupted the few songs he performed with a combined hour-long rant about politics, according to news reports, declaring his support for president-elect Donald Trump and chastising fans.

West angered fans again Saturday in Sacramento, California when he started his concert 90 minutes late, then abruptly broke it off after just three songs and went on a tirade against Hillary Clinton, Jay-Z, Beyonce and other public figures.

“It’s a new world, Hillary Clinton, it’s a new world,” he said. “Feelings matter. Because guess what? Everybody in Middle America felt a way and they showed you how they felt.”

West cancelled a concert in Los Angeles on Sunday that was scheduled as a make-up for one cancelled earlier this month. In October he had cancelled a concert in New York after his wife, media personality Kim Kardashian, was robbed in Paris.

The recent episodes left fans perplexed and disappointed. One fan who said she was at the Sacramento concert wrote on open letter to West that she posted on Twitter.

“I’m sad that you left us all hanging after three songs. I’m sad that you were booed off stage. I’m sad that you had things thrown at you. In all honesty, I really wished you gave us a reason to cheer instead,” a Twitter user identifying herself as N. Dao wrote.

But many expressed renewed concern for West’s mental health. “He’s obviously going through a tough time,” music manager Terrence Henderson wrote on Twitter.

Rapper Snoop Dogg put it more succinctly, in an Instagram video reacting to a recording of the Sacramento rant.

“That nigger crazy,” the rap superstar said, referring to West. “What the f*** is he on?”
