Anyone who wants to send Facebook messages via a smartphone is now forced to use the company’s Messenger app.
Now Facebook has even turned off the messaging feature in the browser version.
If you’re not happy to install an extra app, the only remaining way to work around it is to fire up the Facebook website for older mobile phones with internet access: Anyone who calls up the social network at https://mbasic.facebook.com can still read and send messages.
However, users will have to accept certain restrictions: The basic version of Facebook doesn’t support many functions of the regular web version – but it should definitely be good enough for sending out a quick message on the go.
