“All discussions with the prime minister are always regarded as information between him and me, and should not be shared with the public,” he told reporters after a visit to Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (Cina) Phui Ying in Simpang Pulai, here.

A news portal today reported quoting a Chinese language newspaper as claiming that Chua told a party central committee meeting yesterday that he would resign if the BN announced Ong as its candidate for the Pandan parliamentary constituency.

On the announced intention of DAP advisor Lim Kit Siang to contest in the Gelang Patah parliamentary constituency in Johor in the next general election, Chua said Lim only contested in Chinese-majority areas while hailing the party as being multi-racial.

“Furthermore, what’s his contribution to the constituency? I would say zero. He has been the MP for Ipoh Timur for two terms. What has he done? I think the constituents do not even get to see him in person, only on posters, in newspapers and over the television,” he said.

Chua said an opposition victory in Johor would deprive the state of economic growth, including in Iskandar Malaysia and Pengerang. Meanwhile, he informed the school management that the MCA would help raise RM80,000 for the school to repair and upgrade amenities.
