KUALA LUMPUR, March 26 – Perusahaan Otomobil Kedua Sdn Bhd (Perodua) has expanded its parts distribution operations centre in Kota Kinabalu to a larger facility to expedite the delivery time for parts and cater for larger inventory.
The move would increase the number of line items by over 200 per cent to 6,600 units from 2,200 units and increase the total stock value by 329 per cent to RM1.2 million from RM280,000 previously.
Perodua’s new parts distribution centre will also be almost 2.5 times larger than the previous centre with a total land size of 20,000 sq ft from about 8,200 sq ft. The new distribution centre would improve Perodua’s delivery to its parts outlets in Kota Kinabalu by receiving their stock on the same day, said Perodua Managing Director Datuk Aminar Rashid Salleh. Delivery to other outlets would take between one and three days, he added.
“With this distribution centre fully operational, we are targeting an annual growth of 26 per cent for Sabah,” he said in a statement today.
Aminar also said that parts sales has been growing very strongly, ranging from 20 per cent to 34 per cent between 2009 and 2012. On Perodua’s sales performance in Sabah and Sarawak he said in 2012, the company sold 26,500 units in Sabah and Sarawak, up four per cent from the 23,400 units in 2011. In Sabah alone, Perodua sold a total of 11,300 vehicles last year.
