KOTA KINABALU, March 27 – The Sabah Kadazandusun Murut Welfare and Education Association (Pekadin) wants the Education Ministry to review Malaysian history text book contents on the formation Sabah and Sarawak and their merging with Peninsular Malaysia (Malaya). Pekadin deputy president Nailin Gabintal said there was an urgent need to push for the review by the ministry following the Sabah intrusion by Sulu gunmen from southern Philippines.

“The Malaysian history text books now are only focusing on the history of  Peninsular Malaysia and are not in detail on Sabah and Sarawak.

SABAH HISTORY“Feedback and response received by Pekadin shows that the younger generation and Malaysian adults still have ‘shallow knowledge’ on the real history relating to Sulu sultanate before Sabah gained independence through the formation of Malaysia on September 16, 1963,” he said.
