PETALING JAYA, March 26 – Selangor will dissolve the state assembly by April 22 if Parliament is not dissolved by then, said Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim. He said the opposition pact was now discussing with the state governments of Kelantan, Penang and Kedah about taking the same action as Selangor’s.
“If they agree, we will dissolve our respective state assemblies simultaneously,” Abdul Khalid told a press conference at the Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) headquarters, here, today. Also present were PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang and PAS deputy president Mohamad Sabu.
Before this, the PAS-led Kelantan government was reported to have agreed to dissolve its state assembly at the same time of the dissolution of Parliament by the federal government. Meanwhile, Anwar when asked on how long the opposition pact’s discussion on the matter would take, said no time limit was set.
