SHAH ALAM, Aug 6 — The Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) disciplinary board today issued a show-cause letter to Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim for having allegedly defied a decision of the party’s Central Leadership Council on the change of menteri besar in Selangor.
Its chairman, Datuk Dr Tan Kee Kwong, said Abdul Khalid had been given until Friday to respond to the letter dated today, Aug 5.
A special meeting of the PKR Central Leadership Council on Jan 15 agreed to the decision on the change of the Selangor Menteri Besar, he said.
“Subsequently, the special meeting of the Central Leadership Council on July 21 decided unanimously that PKR president and Kajang assemblyman Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail will be the new Menteri Besar of Selangor.
“However, the media statement of Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim on July 22 clearly defied the decision of the Central Leadership Council when he stated his reluctance to vacate the post of Selangor Menteri Besar,” Tan said in a statement.
Abdul Khalid has refused to step down, saying he would stay on as the menteri besar until his term of office expires.
