JAKARTA, March 28- US Ambassador to Indonesia, Scot Marciel, hosted Indonesian officials, business leaders, and civil society to highlight the progress on implementation of the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Compact signed with Indonesia in November 2011, Indonesia’s Antara reported, citing the US Embassy statement.
The Millennium Challenge Account-Indonesia (MCA-I) organisation, now has a board of directors and a Chief Executive Officer to oversee the administration of the US$600 million (RM1.86 billion) the US will provide in grants to support the Compact over the next five years, the embassy said on its web site on Thursday.
The MCA-I will focus on three projects to achieve economic growth namely The Green Prosperity Project; The Community-Based Nutrition to Prevent Stunting Project; and The Procurement Modernisation Project . According to the embassy, the Procurement Modernisation Project targets significant savings in government procurements and improve the delivery of
public services.
The MCC compact with Indonesia is proof of a mutual commitment to improve the quality of life of Indonesians and strengthening ties between the two countries under the US-Indonesia Comprehensive Partnership.
