BENTONG, March 30- Members of the public, especially the Chinese, have been urged not to be misled by empty promises made by the opposition in efforts to win votes for the 13th general election. MCA deputy president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai(Pic) said the 2008 general election proved that the opposition government in several states failed to make good of the promises they made during the campaign period.
“I hope the people are not easily trapped by sweet nothings as the opposition only makes empty promises, unlike Barisan Nasional (BN).
“The people will lose out by supporting the opposition because they won’t be able to bring any good, unlike BN which is capable of championing the cause of the people and bring about development,” he said in a speech at the launch of the Bentong BN election machinery, here, which was officiated by Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob.
Liow, who is also Health Minister and Bentong MP, said he was confident that over 62,400 voters in the parliamentary constituency would vote for BN in the coming general election.
“I am confident that Bentong will continue to support BN and I don’t want to see Bentong fall behind, but instead have flourishing development.
“The government will carry out more development projects in Bentong so residents must support BN to ensure continuous progress,” he added.
