1 April 2013-Jaguar revealed its most powerful XK coupe model ever in the form of the XKR-S GT at the New York Auto Show. This 542 HP, 502 lb/ft torque producing supercharged 5.0 liter V8 engined sports coupe can blast off to 100 km/h faster than the XKR, in just 3.9 seconds and can reach an electronically limited top speed of 300 km/h. Only 30 units will be made – 25 for USA and 5 for Canada.
However, if demand exists a right hand drive version will be produced for UK. What makes the Jaguar XKR-S GT even more performance oriented than the XKR are the bevy of special features. The XKR-S GT is the first Jaguar to get carbon ceramic brakes, which are further assisted by Electronic Braking “Pre-Fill” system. Carbon fiber parts surround the car in the form of the front air splitter, a rear diffuser and the prominent fixed rear wing. Aerodynamic efficiency is further improved by dive planes and an aluminum front undertray that adds 320lb (145kg) of downforce.
The wider 20-inch forged alloy wheels wrapped in Pirelli Corsa 255/35 front and 305/30 rear tires are accommodated by extended wheel arch arcs. While the wider tyres provide additional grip, the race derived, height adjustable adaptive dampers, with twin spring system maximise performance on the track. Those who have the money to buy one of these will have to spend $174,000 (INR 94,44,720).
