KUALA LUMPUR — The Save Seafield Sri Maha Mariamman Temple task force has urged the authorities to conduct thorough investigations into the death of fireman Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim while on duty.
Its chairman SW Ramaji said the authorities must not only go after the perpetrators but also the people who were behind them.
“They must be punished as their act of violence or scheming has not only taken the life of a public servant but has also compromised the nature of our struggle to retain the temple in its current location,” he said in a statement today.
He stressed that violence was not and would never be a solution for any problem.
“And those who indulge in it for whatever reason have to be investigated and punished accordingly,” he said as he expressed deep sadness and devastation over Muhammad Adib’s passing.
Muhammad Adib was hospitalised after being assaulted during riots at the Sri Maha Mariamman temple in USJ 25, Subang Jaya on Nov 27. He was taking part in a firefighting operation then. The 24-year-old died at the National Heart Institute last night.
Following his death, Selangor police had reclassified the case as murder.
