Mukhriz Tun Mahathir.PENDANG, April 2 – A warning by Kedah DAP that it may resort to initiating three-cornered fights in the next polls proved that the opposition is in disarray, said State Umno Liaison Committee deputy chairman Datuk Mukhriz Tun Dr Mahathir.

He said although the list of candidates had been finalised by Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) adviser Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, in actual fact seat negotiations within the opposition had collapsed.

“Despite having only three parties, the opposition failed to reach a consensus on seat allocations. On the other hand, the Barisan Nasional (BN) which has more component parties in its fold can still come to term on seat allocations.

“We cannot deny that dissatisfaction exists among us, but we will try our best to resolve the misunderstanding in the interest of all parties,” he said when opening a seminar on green technology in the construction industry here, today.

Kedah DAP chairman Lee Guan Aik was quoted as saying that if the DAP failed to obtain more seats, the party might have no choice but to go for three-cornered battles in response to Kedah Menteri Besar Azizan Abdul Razak’s statement that it would not get additional seats.  To add insult to injury, Anwar last night announced the name of a PKR candidate who would contest in the Alor Setar parliamentary seat which the DAP had been eyeing for.
