KUALA LUMPUR, May 28 (Bernama) — Historian and academician Prof Emeritus Tan Sri Dr Khoo Kay Kim, 82, has died of a lung infection at Universiti Malaya Medical Centre (PPUM) here at about 10.13 am this morning.
His second son, Rubin Khoo, 47, said his father had a by-pass operation in October last year and his health deteriorated after returning from the treatment.
“Despite his poor health, he persevered until the end. We are making arrangements and will announce details of the funeral later,” he said when contacted by Bernama here today.
Khoo who was born in Kampar, Perak, left behind his wife, Puan Sri Rathi Khoo, 75 as well as three sons, Eddin, Rubin and Mavin.
He was also one of the writers who drafted Rukun Negara after the racial riots in 1969.
