NajibKUALA LUMPUR, April 4 – The Barisan Nasional (BN) Manifesto for the 13th general election (GE13) to be launched on Saturday represents the coalition’s pledges and commitment to continue implementing transformation and changes in the country, said Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak today.

“The manifesto is our pledge to the people of Malaysia, with the mandate to be given, Insya-Allah we will commit to undertake appropriate transformation and changes in line with our objectives.

“The manifesto is to prosper the national economy and based on the 1Malaysia philosophy, People First Performance Now, and guided by the national transformation policy and agenda,” the Prime Minister said.

Najib, who is also the BN chairman and Umno president, said this to reporters after chairing the Umno Supreme Council (MT) meeting, followed by the BN MT meeting at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC), here.  Among those present at the press conference were Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, BN secretary-general Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor, MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek, MIC president Datuk Seri G.Palanivel, People’s Progressive Party (PPP) president Datuk M.Kayveas and Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu president Tan Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud.

Najib said he wanted the manifesto to be appreciated and understood by the people because it represented a serious commitment by the BN government.  “…and we have in the last four years proven that whenever we make pledges,
we have fulfilled our pledges and I’m confident that our manifesto is the symbol of our new pledges to the rakyat,” he said.

Najib said every state would also present their manifestos separately that would focus on issues in the respective states.

“The central manifesto is the master manifesto, the master policies but specifically for the states, meaning that projects relating to the states concerned would be given emphasis and highlighted in the manifesto at the state level.

“Selangor, for example, (will emphasise on the issue of) water, Kelantan will be on the stadium, mosques, highway and others,” he said, adding that it would be launched by the state BN chairman.

Earlier, Najib said the Supreme Council meeting discussed the final preparations and activities as well as programmes that must be carried out after the dissolution of the Dewan Rakyat, nomination day and subsequently, polling day.

“Today, we followed tradition whereby after the dissolution of Parliament yesterday, the Umno Supreme Council had met, this was followed by the BN Supreme Council,” he said.

The meeting also discussed the party machinery and everything that must be carried out during the campaign period, he said.

“Our overall preparation is most satisfactory, the sentiment of the BN (component parties) is very strong, our machinery is ready to go down on the ground, in fact they have already done this and all our activities will be intensified especially during the election campaign,” he said.
