TANJONG KARANG, April 5 – Datuk Seri Noh Omar has urged other parties in the opposition pact to emulate Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) adviser Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim who confirmed that his wife and PKR president, Datin Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, would not contest in the coming 13th General Election (GE).
The Selangor Barisan Nasional (BN) deputy chief believed that Anwar made the move (in Dr Wan Azizah not contesting in the GE) when the subject of nepotism was broached.
“Nepotism in the opposition has long existed, definitely parties of families. Other than PKR, which is headed by a man, his wife and daughter, the DAP is the same, with father, son and daughter-in-law holding posts,” he told a media conference after opening a programme here today.
Noh claimed the scenario had actually created a feeling of dissatisfaction among party members to the extent that some left the party. He said Anwar’s statement clearly gave the impression that he admitted to the existence of nepotism in the party.
Other than Anwar and Dr Wan Azizah, their daughter, Nurul Izzah, is a PKR vice-president.
