KUALA LUMPUR, April 5 – The Election Commission (EC) is to convene a special meeting on Wednesday to set the dates for nomination and polling in the 13th general election. EC secretary said the meeting, to be held at the EC headquarters in Putrajaya, would also decide on the date for advance voting and determine the electoral roll for the general election.
He said in a statement that the EC had received notification on the declaration of the dissolution of the Dewan Rakyat by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Tuanku Abdul Halim Mua’adzam Shah, on April 3.
“The EC has also received the notification on the dissolution of the state legislative assemblies except for Sarawak,” he said. Sarawak held its state election in 2011.
Kamaruddin said the EC was required to hold the general election within 60 days of the dissolution of the Dewan Rakyat and the state legislative assemblies.
