KOTA KINABALU: Former deputy director of Sabah chapter of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) was charged at the Special Corruption Court here today with six counts of dishonest misappropriation of property totalling RM17,930.

The 41-year-old woman, however, pleaded not guilty and claimed trial to all charges after they were read out before Judge Abu Bakar Manat.

She was charged under Section 403 of the Penal Code which carries a maximum jail term of five years and with whipping, and shall also be liable to fine if convicted.

The woman also pleaded not guilty to six alternative charges under Section 18 of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Act for providing false claims at the same time and place.

The MACC prosecuting officer Michael Joimin prosecuted, while the accused was represented by lawyer Mohd Fareez Mohammad Salleh.

The court allowed the accused bail of RM10,000 with one surety and ordered her to report to MACC office twice monthly and also to surrender her passport.
