PETALING JAYA, April 9- The opposition is still playing a guessing game in finalising candidates and seat allocation between the DAP, PAS and Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR).
Last Friday, PKR deputy president Azmin Ali(pic) had said the seat allocation and candidate list would annoubced today. However, after a series of discussions they appeared to have failed to reach a mutual agreement.
PAS secretary-general Datuk Mustafa Ali confirmed this indecisiveness among the opposition leaders when he said only two per cent had yet to be finalised to give the impression that they were already 98 per cent decided on candidates and allocation of seats.
“PAS will announce its candidates for parliamentary seats at 1pm tommorow ( April 9) at the party headquarters in Jalan Raja Laut and I am confirming that PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang will defend his seat in Marang, Terengganu,” he told a press conference at PKR’s headquarters here, today. Also present were Opposition leader and PKR de facto head Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Datuk Seri Lajim Ukin, the MP for Beaufort, Sabah.
Mustafa said the party had not decided on the Rhu Rendang state seat in Terengganu ore resolved overlapping issues on opposition candidates in the Labuan and Bera parliamentary seats. Meanwhile, Datuk Seri Lajim Ukin, the incumbent for the Beaufort seat, said only two parliamentary seats in Sabah were still being discussed among the opposition parties, which were Tawau and Penampang.
He said he will be contesting Beaufort on a PKR ticket. Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the discussions on candidates and seat allocation were running smoothly and told the media to ask Mohamed Azmin on seat allocation and PKR secretary-general Datuk Saifuddin Nasution Ismail on the candidate list.
