Vigneswaran & Saravanan granted Interim Injunction against Dayalan Sreebalan

Kuala Lumpur : The Kuala Lumpur High Court today (23.12.2020) had granted an interim injunction (ex parte) pending the disposal of a defamation suit which was filed by Malaysian Indian Congress, Tan Sri SA Vigneswaran and Datuk Seri Saravanan against one Dayalan a/l Sreebalan.

The Ex Parte Application for the interim injunction filed by the Plaintiffs was heard before Yang Ariff Dato’ Ahmad Bin Bache.

The said injunction seeks to refrain the Defendant (Dayalan) from posting and circulating any defamatory videos/statements on his social media platforms relating to the Plaintiffs pending the disposal of the defamation suit.

The Defendant had on 2 separate occasions posted videos of himself defaming the Plaintiffs. The first video dated 16.09.2020, contained statements which has defamed the 1st and 2nd Plaintiff (Malaysian Indian Congress & Tan Sri SA Vigneswaran).

Whereas the 2nd video dated 25.11.2020 contained statements which has defamed the 1st and 3rd Plaintiff (Malaysian Indian Congress & Datuk Seri Saravanan).

The court has set 6th of January 2021 as the next date for the Inter Parte hearing before the sitting judge. The Plaintiffs were represented by Mr Vischaal Yogaratnam of Messrs Vas & Co.
