KOTA BAHARU, April 18 – Kelantan Menteri Besar Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat does not consider the nomination of his son, Nik Abduh, as the PAS candidate for the Pasir Mas parliamentary seat in the May 5 poll as his proxy representing the PAS top leadership.
He explained that all PAS candidates represented the party and not proxies of certain leaders. He also said he had not given any indication to the PAS leadership to select his son to contest in any constituency in the general election.
He disclosed this to reporters after launching the donation collecting campaign for the construction of the Al-Ihsan Mosque in the Taman Maju housing scheme, here today.
Nik Abduh is expected to be facing independent candidate Datuk Ibrahim Ali and the Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate, Che Johan Che Pa. Nik Abdul Aziz, who is also the PAS spiritual leader, said that coincidentally, his son had long been interested in politics and was keen to contest.
“He had been active in politics for a long time and is deputy head of the Kelantan PAS Youth movement,” he added.
