SANDAKAN, April 18 – The Chinese community can assist the Barisan Nasional (BN) in boosting national economic growth through the Economic Transformation Programme (ETP), said Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin. The Deputy Prime Minister said the community, who mostly comprised businessmen and industrialists, had contributed much in boosting the national
economy.
“The Chinese business community can assist the BN in implementing various economic policies and programmes in a more effective manner when the BN is returned to power.
“The BN economic policies and programmes should be supported so that the national economy can continue to grow and all the people can share the national wealth fairly and equitably,” he said at the programme, ‘An Afternoon With the Deputy Prime Minister’, here today.
Muhyiddin said it had always been the intention of the BN to ensure that no one was left out of the mainstream of development. He said he was impressed with the economic landscape of Sandakan which was rapidly developing.
He said the BN appreciated the contribution made by the people of various races in Sandakan, including the Chinese community, in beautifying and developing the district’s economy.
The Deputy Prime Minister was confident that Sandakan would experience more rapid development if the people in the district continued to give their mandate to the BN in the 13th general election.
