KayveasKUALA LUMPUR, April 18 – The People’s Progressive Party (PPP) will come up with respective manifestos for each of the five seats allocated to the party in the 13th General Election. Its president, Datuk Seri M. Kayveas, said the pledges in each manifesto of a parliamentary constituency and four state seats would differ, according to the importance and needs of the people in the respective areas.

“Each manifesto will have eight points on why they (the voters) should choose Barisan Nasional (BN) (over the opposition), and also the promise to enhance their living standard,” he said.

Kayveas, who is one of the five candidates, said this at a press conference where he introduced the candidates at the party’s headquarters here today. The candidates are Federal Territory PPP chairman Datuk A. Chandrakumanan for the Kepong parliamentary seat; Senator Datuk Chiw Tiang Chai for Kota Laksamana (Melaka); Kayveas for Pasir Bedamar (Perak); PPP vice-president Datuk Maglin Dennis D’Cruz for Kota Alam Shah (Selangor); and, PPP vice-president Datuk Nik Sapeia Nik Yusoff for Guchil (Kelantan).

Kayveas said the party would try hard to recapture some of the seats allocated for the betterment of the people in the country. As for the Pasir Bedamar state seat where he is contesting, Kayveas said continous efforts undertaken by the PPP since 2008, in convincing the people of the party’s sincerity, would spur support.

“I have been to some of the areas in Pasir Bedamar, it looks so terrible, nothing has been done, no development, no road and no street lights. This is because the candidate is not there to look at it and bring up the issues,” he noted. In the 12th General Election in 2008, the PPP contested the Taiping parliamentary and Pasir Bedamar state seats, but lost both.
