GUA MUSANG, April 19 – Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah is confident of defending his Gua Musang parliamentary seat in the 13th General Election (GE13). He said this was because not only did the constituents had full faith in him but also Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, despite the fact that he (Tengku Razaleigh) was already 76 years old.
“The Prime Minister wants to retain me as the candidate for Gua Musang also in the hope that my influence can help the Barisan Nasional to wrest Kelantan from PAS,” he told reporters here today.
The Gua Musang Umno and Gua Musang BN chief also said that at first he had thought of pulling out (from contesting) because of his age as he would be the only Umno veteran still in the fray but acceded to the Prime Minister’s wish for him to stay. Nomination is on Saturday and polling on March 5.
