JOHOR BARU: Former senator S. Ramakrishnan is expected to be named Friday as DAP’s candidate for the Labis parliamentary seat.
It is learnt that the DAP central committee discussed the matter and gave the green light Thursday for Ramakrishnan to contest the seat in the May 5 general election.
On Wednesday, DAP advisor Lim Kit Siang announced all the 19 candidates contesting in 20 seats in Johor, leaving out Labis.
Ramakrishnan, who was present at the event held to introduce the candidates, was not called up for the photography session.
He has been working in the area since the Tenang by-election in 2011.
Other DAP contenders for the Labis seat were incumbent Teluk Intan MP M. Manoharan and Selangor caretaker exco Ronnie Liu.
Ramakrishnan will be challenging MCA Young Professionals Bureau chief Datuk Chua Tee Yong for the seat.
