SHAH ALAM, April 21- The big number of independent candidates is not expected to provide an advantage to any political party contesting in Selangor in the upcoming 13th general election. Selangor has recorded the most multi-cornered fights for seats in the peninsula.
The Kapar parliamentary seat and Kajang and Kota Damansara state seats, for example, will see six-cornered contests which include three independent candidates in each. Four other state seats, namely Kuala Kubu Baharu, Teratai, Taman Medan and Seri Andalas, as well as the Subang parliamentary seat will see five-cornered tussles.
One of the candidates for the Teratai seat, Jenice Lee Ying Ha, the incumbent who won the seat in 2008, is contesting as an independent this time after her name was dropped from the DAP list of candidates.
