TAIPING: Perak Barisan Nasional chairman Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir said Tuesday ex-Umno Wanita leader Datuk Kamilia Ibrahim should not claim that Barisan leaders did not recognise women. “She can’t say that because she was offered to contest in a state seat.
“When one is offered a seat one should accept it in order to serve the rakyat. “Even Gerakan president Tun Lim Keng Yaik has contested in the Jalong state seat and became a state executive councillor. “In this general election, PPP president Datuk M. Kayveas is also contesting the Pasir Bedamar state seat,” he told reporters.
Dr Zambry also said DAP’s decision not to field incumbent Aulong assemblyman Yew Tian Hoe did not surprise him. “Even though Yew is a disabled person, he was able to play his role as a wakil rakyat. “But the cousins (state DAP chairman Datuk Ngeh Koo Ham and state DAP secretary Nga Kor Ming) are powerful enough to decide who they want. I’m not sure whether the decision is a discrimination against Yew’s condition,” he said.
