MELAKA, April 24 – The Melaka Barisan Nasional (BN) today launched a manifesto for Melaka themed ‘Stability and Continuity of Green Technology City State’. The manifesto with three main thrusts and 32 points launched by Melaka BN chairman Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam was attended by all BN candidates for six parliamentary seats and 28 state assembly seats.
The three main thrusts were to speed up achievement of developed state, enhance the city state’s status via the use of green technology and practices. Melaka BN will boost economic shift from tertiary level to quaternary level particularly in research and development as well as halal products and services.
This is done by upgrading of small and medium industries, cluster development approach; low unemployment and inflation rate; zero poverty, control of leading institutions and companies by Melaka born; maintaining peace and public order and building a complete infrastructure including high speed train.
In order to enhance the state’s status via green technology, the use of solar energy, hybrid car and high-tech glass will also be emphasised. Mohd Ali told a press conference that pledges in the manifesto will bring Melaka and its people to a higher level in all fields.
“We are number one in many areas, ahead of opposition states, and want to do better in terms of unemployment and poverty.”
Mohd Ali said the Melaka BN GE12 manifesto had been met including the creation of 45,200 jobs for 2008-2012, exceeding the target of 25,000. The Melaka government also succeeded in addressing the impact of rising price by reducing inflation from 5.9 percent to 1.8 percent and making the state a domestic and international tourist destination.
