MAP President and Hindraf Chairman P. Waytha Moorthy, in a statement reminded Indians to vote for the future of their children and grandchildren in GE-15. With 6.6% Indian population and without a single Parliament seat with Indian majority, MAP does not have a choice but to partner and co-operate with majority Malay and Chinese parties that is likely to form a government. Only by being in the government can MAP be effective in bringing the changes required for the community.
Waytha Moorthy also expressed his regret that MAP could not form a workable partnership with Pakatan Harapan.
“I wish to inform the Indian community and all my supporters and well-wishers that my attempts to work with Pakatan Harapan failed. PKR President Anwar Ibrahim insists that he does not want an Indian party in Pakatan Harapan. My life journey for the past 17 years in Hindraf is to ensure the future of our community is guaranteed. Every other community does not feel embarrassed about representing the rights of their community. Take UMNO, BERSATU, PEJUANG, PAS, AMANAH and DAP. They are all clear in their directions. I too, am clear of my agenda for the poorer segment of the Indian community. Why must I forsake the most marginalized Indian community in the name of multiracialism?” and shortchange them further, added Waytha Moorthy.
