ShahrizatKUALA LUMPUR, April 29 – Wanita Umno must remain vigilant against attempts to undermine their loyalty, especially by the opposition, who continue to plant seeds of hatred as the election campaign enters its final stretch.

Barisan Nasional (BN) Wanita chief Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil said from feedback received, the opposition were using various tactics, including spreading lies and false accusations to try and undermine the support of Wanita Umno members.

The Wanita Umno election machinery must foil such attempts by the opposition by going to the ground and briefing the people.

“What is important is for us to look forward and move forward to show that the party not only has an excellent track record but ready to deliver the ‘Akujanji’ (Pledge) by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak who has promised development, unity and inclusiveness.

“Trustworthiness under Datuk Seri Najib’s leadership. This is the message that should be disseminated by the Wanita Umno machinery at the grassroots,” she said when commenting on Wanita Umno election machinery’s preparations for polling day on May 5.

Earlier, she launched the Lembah Pantai ‘Jalinan Untuk Wanita Ibu Tunggal Malaysia’ programme, here, today in the presence of BN’s Lembah Pantai Parliamentary candidate Datuk Raja Nong Chik Raja Zainal Abidin and 280 single mothers in the constituency.

Shahrizat in denying rumours that she and Raja Nong Chik were not in ‘good terms’ said she would fully support the Lembah Pantai who is also the Federal Territories and Urban Wellbeing Minister who had assisted her throughout her three terms as the Lembah Pantai MP.

“We fully support Raja Nong Chik in Lembah Pantai. He has worked with me in the constituency for 15 years and served the people well,” she said.

Shahrizat said BN would be able to wrest the Lembah Pantai Parliament seat as incumbent Nurul Izzah Anwar had a ‘poor’ track record in the constituency, throughout the five years in office.

Meanwhile, Raja Nong Chik also said that Shahrizat’s presence at the programme today was proof that rumours claiming she was not in good terms with him were simply lies spread by irresponsible people.
