KLUANG, April 29 – Home Minister and Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein, who is defending his Sembrong parliamentary seat, said today he learned that his opponent from the PKR, Onn Abu Bakar, was campaigning in the nearby Kota Tinggi parliamentary constituency.
He said Onn had reportedly said that the constituents of Sembrong loved him (Hishammuddin) and it would be advisable for him (Onn) to help campaign for his ally. Onn Jaafar of PAS is contesting in Kota Tinggi. Hishammuddin had won the Sembrong seat in 2008 with a majority of 11,570 votes.
In this general election, polling for which is on May 5, he is involved in a straight fight with Onn Abu Bakar. Hishammuddin spoke at the opening of the Rural Transformation Centre (RTC) in Kampung Contoh, Kahang, here. Also present at the event was the BN candidate for the Kahang state set, R. Vidyananthan.
