KUALA LUMPUR: Police and navy personnel nationwide became the inaugural batch of advance voters who used indelible ink for the first time.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Ismail Omar led the way by being among the first to cast his vote, as policemen all over the country cast their votes at police contingents nationwide.
Starting from 8.30am, excited policemen lined up in Bukit Aman’s Mass Hall and Dewan Perkep.
Ismail, when met after casting his vote, said the police was honoured to be part of history in using the indelible ink.

“If not, the IGP would have been turned away,” he joked.
Meanwhile, in Lumut, 12,766 Royal Malaysian Navy personnel cast their ballots at the polling station in SMK TLDM at the base here.
Their votes will go to the Lumut parliamentary seat, which is contested by Barisan Nasional candidate Datuk Seri Kong Cho Haand PKR’s First Admiral (R) Mohd Imran Abdulk Hamid.
Navy men are also voting for the Pangkor state seat, where Barisan’s Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir, PKR’s Mohd Saifullah Mohd Zulfilfi and independent P. Bernard are in a three-cornered fight.
Kong, First Admiral (R) Mohd Imran and Mohd Saifullah were also present at the centre in the morning.
