MARANG, May 10- PAS wants Pelabuhan Klang assemblyman Khalid Ibrahim from PKR retained as the Menteri Besar of Selangor, said PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang.
He said although PKR only won 14 state seats in Sunday’s general election as compared to PAS and DAP (which won 15 seats each), PAS made a decision that Khalid should continue to helm the state.
The Pakatan Rakyat pact of PKR-DAP-PAS retained the state after capturing 44 of the 56 seats at stake. The rest were won by the Barisan Nasional (BN).
“I have discussed with Selangor PAS for a Menteri Besar from PKR be retained in Selangor.
“We want to show that Pakatan Rakyat can administer a state in a collective manner,” he said when delivering a talk in Rusila here yesterday.
Abdul Hadi said he had issued a letter from the party to the effect to be submitted to Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah of Selangor.
On PAS representation in the Selangor state executive council, he said he was leaving this to Selangor PAS to take it up with its partners.
Earlier this week, DAP secretary general Lim Guan Eng said his party too would back Khalid to continue as the MB.
