KUALA LUMPUR, May 15- DAP chairman Karpal Singh (Photo) lodged a police report against former Court of Appeal judge Mohd Noor Abdullah today over the latter’s alleged racist remarks.
Speaking after lodging the report at the Jalan Tun HS Lee police station, Karpal said that he was appalled by Noor’s racist attacks and called for action to be taken against the former judge.
“Noor was a good and fair judge. I’m shocked that he could make such a statement,” said the Bukit Gelugor MP.
Three days ago, Noor said that the Chinese must be prepared for a backlash from the Malays for their ‘betrayal” in the general election.
He also accused the Chinese of plotting to seize political power despite having economic power in the country.
Karpal urged the police and the Attorney-General’s Chambers to investigate Noor’s remarks under Sedition Act 1948 as it could jeopardise the racial harmony existing in the country.
“In what way the Chinese were trying to seize political power?
“The statement is very insidious and can cause serious problems. Noor should retract and clarify his statement,” he said.
On Monday, another DAP leader, M Kulasegaran too had lodged a report against the former judge.
