ALOR SETAR, May 16- Pengkalan Kundor State Assemblyman Datuk Phahrolrazi Zawawi has announced his resignation as Kedah PAS deputy commissioner I.
He said he sent the resignation letter on the post he held since 2009, on Monday – a day after the PAS Central Committee announced the appointment of party vice-president Datuk Mahfuz Omar as Kedah PAS commissioner, replacing Datuk Seri Azizan Abdul Razak.
He said the resignation letter was sent to the party’s state secretary, Musoddak Ahmad, adding that he had also informed a Kedah PAS political committee special meeting last night.
Phahrolrazi said the move to relinquish the Kedah PAS deputy commissioner I post was to give way to Mahfuz to appoint his confidant to the senior position.
“The post is an appointment by the state commissioner, and not through voting. In respect of the new Kedah PAS commissioner to get a new deputy, it is only right that I vacate the post to enable him to appoint his confidant,” he told reporters here today.
In June 2011, when Azizan was heading Kedah PAS as its commissioner, he dropped Mahfuz who was then the deputy commissioner II and Datuk Taib Azamuddin Md Taib who was deputy commissioner III.
Mahfuz’s post was filled by Datuk Dr Ismail Salleh while Taib Azamuddin replaced Md Isa Shafie. Phahrolrazi was retained as Kedah PAS deputy commissioner I.
