KUALA LUMPUR, May 22- Dewan Negara president Tan Sri Abu Zahar Ujang has urged DAP chairman Karpal Singh to respect the Federal Constitution and avoid issuing statements which can confuse the public.
“Karpal Singh, as a lawyer and member of parliament, should understand the National Constitution. He has to look at what the constitution says…don’t make comments which confuse the people.
“I urge all quarters to understand the constitution, it has been in use since independence and makes the nation successful and peaceful until today,” he told reporters after taking up his oath as president of Dewan Negara for the second term in Parliament here today.
He said this when asked to comment on a suggestion by Karpal recently that the Federal Constitution be amended to abolish the Dewan Negara because its existence was allegedly a waste.
