Chennai, May 25 – Legandary Tamil Singer who mesmerised millions of Tamils with his cinema songs passed away today. He was 91.
Popularly known as TMS, was admitted to a private hospital in Mylapore, Chennai due to respiratory difficulties.
TMS who was suffering with several ailments due to old age has been seeking regular treatments recently.
He will always be remembered for his contribution to Tamil cinema where he was known for his prowess for singing the voices of legendary actors Sivaji Ganesan and MGR.
He has also sang thousands of songs for other actors like Gemini Ganesan, Jai Shankar, Ravichandran, Rajni Kanth, Kamal Hassan and many others.
He will also be remembered for his devotional songs especially those on Lord Muruga which echoes everyday in the temples of Lord Murugan in Tamil Nadu and other parts of the world, where Tamils reside.
He has recorded over 10,000 Tamil film songs and 2500 devotional and other language film songs in a career spanning over 6 decades.
His last song was the one he sang in 2010 for the Semmozhi Tamil conference composed by A.R.Rahman.
