KUALA LUMPUR, May 29- The Kuala Lumpur Magistrate’s Court has issued arrest warrants for five individuals, including opposition leaders and political activists in relation to offences under Section 4 (1) of the Sedition Act 1948.
Arrest warrants had been issued against PAS activist Datuk Tamrin Abdul Ghafar, Asalkan Bukan Umno (ABU) leader, Harris Fatillah Mohamed Ibrahim, PKR
vice-president Tian Chua, student activist Muhammad Safwan Anang and political activist Hishamuddin Rais.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Mohmad Salleh said the arrest warrants had been been served on Tamrin, Harris, Tian Chua and Safwan and they were required to be present in Criminal Session Court 1, Kuala Lumpur tomorrow.
The arrest warrant against Hishamuddin had not been served, Mohmad said in a statement here tonight.
Tamrin, Harris and Tian Chua were arrested on May 23 but were released the next day after the police failed to obtain a remand order from the court.
