Nur-Jazlan-SliderKUALA LUMPUR, Feb 3  — Chairman of UDA Holdings Bhd Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed seemed to have agreed to join hands with businessman Datuk Seri Abdul Azim Zabidi to take control of Patimas Computers Bhd.

“I put my name because I am confident about the project (with regards to taking control of Patimas),” he said when contacted here.

It was reported yesterday that Abdul Azim intended to tap the expertise of some of his friends in government-linked companies (GLC) to help restructure Patimas.

“I have been talking to Nur Jazlan about coming to Patimas and helping me to restructure the company,” Abdul Azim was quoted as saying.

However, Nur Jazlan declined to comment on whether the proposal take control of Patimas would also involve UDA Holdings. “I have no comment,” he said.

UDA Holdings Bhd is a GLC that is synonymous with its role in urban development. When asked to elaborate on the bid to take control of Patimas, Nur Jazlan said Abdul Azim would provide the details in few weeks’ time.

Abdul Azim was reportedly said that he was prepared to take control of the financially distressed company which has to be rescued or face the spectre being delisted from Bursa Malaysia.

The businessman currently has a seven per cent stake in Patimas while China Private Equity Investment Holdings Ltd had last week bought a five per cent stake in the computer services outfit.

Abdul Azim had on Jan 17 said he was in talks to rope in a foreign strategic partner to help revive the fortunes of the PN17 company.

Patimas and its subsidiaries are principally engaged in the provision of information and communications technology (ICT) solutions and products.
