KOTA KINABALU, June 5 – State-owned companies and agencies can contribute effectively to the state’s kitty if they adopted prudent financial management in their dealings, Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman (photo) said today.
He said almost all the state government agencies in Sabah registered good profits and companies with debts settle their dues promptly to the government while some agencies settled their dues in the form of dividends.
“As a result, the state government receives hundreds of million of ringgit in dividends which are used for the people’s well-being,” said Musa, who is also State Finance Minister, to reporters after opening a course for Board of Governors of Statutory Bodies organised by the Finance Ministry.
Musa said statutory bodies and agencies that are well run can also contribute in ensuring a better quality of life for the masses..
Earlier, in his speech, Musa asked the top management of subsidiaries and agencies to display high performance to face the current economic challenges.
“They must be efficient and accountable for their decisions and actions taken,” he added.
