KUALA LUMPUR, June 6- The prime minister’s wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor hopes to see more women corporate leaders getting involved in the stock market.

She said by doing so, the women corporate leaders not only presented their companies well to investors with compliance to good governance and practices but they can also enrich the value of their companies through the Stock Exchange.

“Currently, women account for about a third or 32 per cent of commissioned remisers in the Malaysian Stock Exchange.

Rosmah noted that for its part, the government targeted at least 30 per cent of the posts at decision-making level in the corporate sector were filled by women by 2016, and that Malaysia was highlighted as an example of good governance in implementing such initiative.

“We are also glad to have a women-friendly Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak in championing women’s involvement in business as well as increasing women’s entrepreneurship and clearly there is still much room for women to improve,” she added.

Touching on the coffee table book, Rosmah said the book featured prominent women who had built new enterprises and they were truly inspirational in the way they seized the opportunities.

They included film producer Datin Seri Tiara Jacquelina, fashion designer Datuk Tom Abang Saufi, top jeweller and designer Amee Philips and celebrity hairstylist Winnie Loo.

“The book tells the compelling success stories of 56 exceptional Malaysian women who made things happen for themselves and those around them,” she said.

The book, which is in English, is published only for Women, Family and Community Development Ministry’s distribution.

Rosmah added, the Global Summit of Women 2013 themed ‘Women: Creating New Economies’ would be held at Shangri-La Hotel here for two days starting tomorrow, a highly regarded annual gathering featuring prominent women leaders in government and business from more than 70 countries.
