GEORGE TOWN, June 6- The Penang Hospital is inviting the public to participate in a recreational cycling programme on June 16, at the hospital’s multi-storey car park from 6.30 am until noon.
According to a statement issued by its public relations office, the programme was being held in conjunction with the World Blood Donor Day which will is celebrated on June 14 every year.
The programme, with the theme of ‘Give The Gift of Life: Donate Blood’, was organised by the hospital’s Transfusion Medicine Unit and Board of Visitors, to create public awareness on the importance of donating blood.
Entry fee is RM15 per person and participation is limited to 500 people. The 15-kilometre cycling event will begin and end at the multi-storey car park. The route will involve Jalan Padang Polo, Jalan Air Terjun, Jalan Gottlib, coastal roads in Gurney Drive and Jalan Sultan Ahmad Shah.
Besides recreational cycling, there are other activities arranged such as colouring contest, video presentation, free medical screening, health exhibition and blood donation.
Those who are interested to join the programme can obtain entry forms at the nCustomer Service counter and Blood Bank counter before the closing date on June 12, or contact the secretariat at 04-2225161.
