MUAR, June 8- Johor MIC secretary M. Asojan has urged the party leadership to follow the footsteps of other Barisan Nasional (BN) component parties in convening party polls this year.
The Bukit Gambir assemblyman said MIC had no reason to postpone the polls which was scheduled to be carried out in February last year.
“Previously the party election was postponed due to the 13th General Election and we had submit this as the reason to the Registrar of Societies (ROS). Now we have no reason to postpone the election,” he told reporters at his service centre here, today.
Asojan, who is also former State Unity, Human Resource, Science, Technolgy and Innovation Committee chairman, said the party should also consider the election in order to get new ideas from young leaders and strengthen the party.
He also did not rule out the possibility of there being a contest for the party’s top post between incumbent Datuk Seri G.Palanivel and his deputy Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam.
