Perak PAS files petitions to nullify results of three state seats

IPOH, June 11 – The Perak PAS has filed three petitions seeking to nullify the May 5 general election results for the Manjoi, Lubok Merbau and Pasir Panjang state seats.

In the last 13th general election, Mohamad Ziad Mohamed Zainal Abidin, from Barisan Nasional (BN), defeated PAS candidate, Asmuni Awi, with a 132-vote majority in the contest for the Manjoi state seat.

In the contest for the Lubok Merbau seat, BN’s Datuk Siti Salmah Mat Jusak defeated PAS’ Mohd Zainudin Mohd Yusof with a majority of 53 votes.

The contest for the Pasir Panjang seat involved a three-cornered fight between BN’s Rashidi Ibrahim, Rohawati Abidin, from PAS and Independent candidate S.Vijayan. Rashidi won the seat with a 304-vote majority.

PAS contested in 22 state constituencies in Perak during the May 5 general election and won five of the seats.

Meanwhile, Perak PAS deputy commissioner Misbahul Munir Masduki, who was met at the court compound, said the state PAS would also be filing petitions to nullify the May 5 general election results for Rungkup, Manong and Selama state seats.
