KOTA KINABALU, June 12- All state Barisan Nasional (BN) assemblymen elected in the recent general election should discharge their responsibilities in accordance with the mandate given by the people.

In making the call, Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman (photo) said as elected  representatives, they had to work together with people for mutual benefit.

Musa AmanMusa, who is Sabah BN chairman, said this after a special meeting with BN assemblymen at the State Assembly building in Likas, near here, today.

Musa said: “This is a big trust given by the people who expect us to always ‘turun padang’ (go down to the ground) and try to assist them wherever possible to lessen their problems.”

Musa, who is also state Finance Minister, also wants the elected representatives to provide information on the development brought by BN all these years.

He said this was important in order to counter the accusations and slander thrown at BN by the opposition.

“This effort is important so that the people are not fed with incorrect information, especially those involving leaders and the development agenda of the government,” he said.

On the 14th Sabah State Assembly session to be held next week, the Chief Minister said the backbenchers club was ready to repel any attack by the opposition over issues.

He hoped the assembly sitting would see a healthy and constructive debate and not hurling of defamatory statements or allegations.
