JAKARTA, June 17- Communication and Multimedia Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek (photo) said the Overseas Umno Club has helped Malaysian students of all races a great deal.
Although the members of the Club were Malay students, its presence even in remote places enables it to assist the multi-racial students, he said here on saturday.
Ahmad Shabery, who is the Overseas Umno Club chairman, said the club members were like mini ambassadors who could provide initial help to Malaysian students before the arrival of the Malaysian Embassy personnel.
While commending the Indonesia Umno Club for being active in various humanitarian activities in the republic, the minister also asked the club members to explain to Malaysian students in Indonesia about the election system in Malaysia and that the people had given the mandate to Barisan Nasional to continue ruling the country.
He said the explanation was vital to prevent Malaysian students from being confused by issues raised by the opposition after the general election, including the 505 Blackout rally.
At present, there are 73 Overseas Umno Clubs across the world with Indonesia having the highest number of branch at 13.
