NAIROBI, June 17 – President Uhuru Kenyatta has urged Kenya’s youth to take advantage of the six billion Shillings (about US$70 million) revolving fund set up to help them become engaged in businesses to empower themselves economically.

The president reiterated that the government was committed to fulfilling all the promises the ruling Jubilee Coalition made during campaigning leading to the March general election.

“Together with my deputy William Ruto, we will ensure that we deliver on the pledges we made to Kenyans, particularly the empowerment of the youth and women,” the president said.

In this regard, the Head of State urged Kenyans to put aside politics and concentrate on activities that will move the country forward in development.

President Kenyatta particularly censured politicians who were still going around trading insults and dividing Kenyans long after the general election, saying divisive politics had no place in the new Kenya under the new Constitution.

Nairobi Senator Mike Mbuki Sonko echoed President Kenyatta’s support for youth empowerment while Nairobi Women Representative Rachael Shebesh called on the youth to shun alcoholism, drug abuse and other vices that arecounter-productive.
