SINGAPORE, June 23 – Despite having clearer skies and improved air quality, Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has warned Singaporeans to be prepared for the haze to come back.
In his Facebook posting, Lee said: “Took a walk at Labrador Park this (Saturday) evening.
“Met families out enjoying the blue skies, including this one. Hope the clear air lasts, but let’s be prepared for the haze to come back,” he said.
Meanwhile, the National Environment Agency (NEA) said the improvement was due to the city-state being free of dense haze upwind and transient changes in local wind conditions.
As noon Sunday, the three-hour Pollutant Standards Index (PSI) reading was 83 while the 24-hour PSI ranged between 88-98.
Air quality is considered “hazardous” when the PSI index passes 300, whilst a reading ranging between 101 and 200 is “unhealthy”. If the level is below 100, the people can continue with their normal outdoor activities.
