KOTA BAHARU, June 25 – PAS vice-president Datuk Husam Musa was released by the Magistrate’s Court here yesterday upon the expiry of his two-day remand under Section 4 (1)(b) of the Sedition Act 1948 for his alleged ‘mati syahid’ (martyr death) statement.
Magistrate Nik Habri Muhamad ordered Husam to be released on RM3,000 bail with one surety in a proceeding held at the Kota Baharu police headquarters which served as a temporary Magistrate’s Court.
Husam, 54, who is also Salor assemblyman, was detained at 4 pm on Saturday at Kampung Pandan, Ampang, Selangor to facilitate investigations into his alleged statement published in PAS’ official media, that whoever perished in the Black 505 rally at Padang Merbok in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday would be regarded as having died as martyrs.
Husam was represented by counsel Hisham Fauzi at the proceeding during which reporters and press photographers were barred from entering the premises.
