JUNE 26- Last year, Sony entered the wearable computing market with the Sony SmartWatch.
Yesterday, the company has announced the next iteration of the Android-powered device, and the SmartWatch 2 offers a couple unique advantages. Namely, Sony claims the SmartWatch 2 is the first of its kind to include NFC technology.
The NFC connectivity of the SmartWatch 2 allows for one-touch pairing and the obvious possibility to use NFC-capable Android apps. The screen of the SmartWatch 2 makes some improvements over its predecessor, expanding to 1.6 inches (versus 1.3 inch original SmartWatch) with 220 x 176 pixels. Based on the images released by Sony on Tuesday, the SmartWatch 2 seems to evoke a more sleek and subtle design. But if you miss the colorful wristbands of the original SmartWatch, the new model will accept any standard 24mm strap.
The SmartWatch 2 can access email, text messages, calls, Facebook, and a wide variety of other applications through pairing with an Android smartphone.
